Two paths to the method

Isabel Einsiedl and Gerrit Curcio run the Landhotel Altes Zollhaus and hold Wim Hof workshops and retreats there. Both value the method for wellbeing and stress resilience.

Through sport

Gerrit came to the method through athletic performance – more in Wim Hof & performance.

Through yoga & art

Isabel had practised yoga and other spiritual practices for years and found the method a quick way to similar states – such as the mindset that helps her create art.

The roots

Pranayama: consciously directing life energy

According to Wim himself, the breathing exercises come from yogic practices. Pranayama combines “prana” (life energy) and “ayama” (extension, control) – consciously directing life energy through the breath.

All forms of pranayama aim to cleanse, relax and energise body and mind. How Wim Hof breathing works physiologically: Wim Hof breathing explained. Yoga with us: morning yoga (times may change).

Guest experience

A workshop with Gerrit and Isabel

A guest reports: “We lay covered on our yoga mats and began breathing under their guidance. Isabel and Gerrit played music and drummed rhythmically – it helped me go deeper. I felt a mental freedom I rarely know.”

Not every workshop is that intense – but it shows how powerful the technique can be.

In everyday life

Gerrit and Isabel like to practise early – even in bed – combined with morning exercise, a cold dip or shower.

Practise lying or leaning back, never in water or while driving.
