Swimming in ice, in the middle of the forest.

The 2027 German Ice Swimming Championships take place surrounded by nature at the natural lake of the Landhotel Altes Zollhaus in Neuhermsdorf. Distances range from 50 to 1000 metres – in ice-cold water at about 2 °C.

The hotel sits 800 metres above sea level in the eastern Ore Mountains: at the end of February it is exactly as cold as it should be. A 25 m pool with five lanes is cut into the ice, and all races follow the rules of the International Ice Swimming Association (IISA).

And after your race? A hot tub waits between the hotel and the lake, a large sauna tent right at the competition lake – and four more saunas inside the hotel.
