One of the city’s landmarks is the Frauenkirche. After its destruction in February 1945 it long stood as a memorial. Since its reconstruction was completed in 2005, it has been a symbol of peace and reconciliation.
Just as famous are the Semperoper, rebuilt from 1977 to 1985 to Gottfried Semper’s original plans, and the baroque Zwinger with its Crown Gate.
