The alkaline fasting menu, German and Italian cuisine in the Zollhaus

You may be wondering what you can expect from the alkaline fasting menu at the Landhotel Altes Zollhaus. All three meals are offered at fixed times. Dinner is relatively early - not after 6.30 pm - to give the stomach enough time to digest before going to bed.

You get two courses for both lunch and dinner. The starter at lunch is often a salad, because according toAlkaline fasting according to WackerRaw vegetables are still allowed before 2 pm. In the evening, the starter is a delicious seasonal soup that varies daily and allows different vegetables to shine - whether cauliflower, beetroot or the classic tomato soup.

Dishes often mix Saxon and Italian influences

As the Zollhaus offers both Saxon and Italian-Sicilian cuisine, with chefs from both regions, the basic fasting main courses are often variations on classics from these two regions. This makes the meals particularly exciting and varied. Sometimes there is a dish with alkaline red cabbage and potatoes, sometimes kohlrabi spaghetti with homemade basil pesto, cherry tomatoes and fresh olive oil. Sometimes the two cuisines mix in a delicious way, for example in olive and potato purée.

I often have a warm alkaline muesli for breakfast, which contains sprouted oats, is made with almond milk and is served with slightly warmed fruit. The latter is amazingly tasty: especially in the cold season, the slight warmth is good, and the fruit remains crisp and fresh thanks to the gentle heating. Tigernut flakes, which taste sweet and delicious, and toasted coconut flakes are often added. We also recommend the latter at home: roasting the flakes makes them crispier, stronger and sweeter in flavour. Cinnamon is also added. Because breakfast contains more carbohydrates and natural sugars than other meals, the cinnamon can help to keep blood sugar levels more stable.

If you want to eat an alkaline diet at breakfast as a regular guest, you can also help yourself to the chia seeds, plant milk and fruit and vegetables on our breakfast buffet. If you are travelling as an alkaline guest with a partner or friend who does not wish to follow an alkaline diet, this is not a problem. It is possible for one party to book the alkaline programme including the alkaline menu, while the second person orders from the regular menu and takes part in the full breakfast buffet. The menu includes German classics, regional specialities and "new German" creations such as sauerbraten and beef roulade, roast wild boar and venison stew, or XXL burgers and cheeseburgers with regular or sweet potato fries.

Our Italian chefs serve delicious gnocchi, various pasta dishes and the very specialPizzas from the stone oven.
